Import Cost Data from a .csv File
Use the Cost Data Import wizard to import cost data from a .csv data file. You can import the complete .csv file or you can import the header information only.
Note: In order to import cost data from a .csv file, you must first select the Deltek CSV Format option on the Platforms (Deltek) page of the Deltek Acumen Options dialog box.
Note: The steps below are for importing the entire cost data .csv file. To import header information only, see Import Cost Data (Header Information Only) from a .csv File.
The Acumen installation includes a comma separated values (.csv) template file called CSV Template.csv and some sample DECM files that are located in the folder. For more information about the file structure that you need to use when you import data from a .csv file, see Cost Data CSV Structure
To import cost data from a .csv data file:
- On the S1 // Projects tab, if you want the imported data to be added to an existing project or snapshot, select that project/snapshot in the Projects pane before starting the Import wizard. If you do not want the data added to an existing project, skip this step.
- On the S1 // Projects tab, do one of the following:
- In the Projects pane, right-click on the project and select Import Cost Data.
- In the Get External Data From menu group, click .
- On the first page of the Cost Data Import wizard, select Import cost data from: Cost Data CSV.
- If you selected a project in the Projects pane before starting the Import wizard, the Add data to selected project/snapshot option is automatically selected. If you do not want the imported data to be added to the selected project, clear the option.
- Click Next.
- Browse to and select a cost data file. The file that you import must have a .csv extension.
- Select the WBS, OBS, Work Package, and Control Account fields that map to the cost data.
- WBS/OBS — Select the fields that map to the cost data.
- Use WBS and OBS as Control Account Keys — If this check box is selected, the activity maps to a work package if the Work Package, WBS, and OBS fields all match. If the check box is not selected, the activity maps to a work package if the Work Package fields match, and the control account key fields match to the control account ID.
- Work Package — Select the field that maps to the cost data.
- Control Account — Select the field that maps to the cost data.
- Click Finish.
Note: If the.csv data file you are importing contains the TimePhasePeriods section, Acumen reads the time-phased data and determines the time-phased start and finish dates. You can verify the imported time-phased records in the Control Account / Work Package grid on the Control Accounts / Work Packages tab of the Activity Details pane and in the Activity Browser grid on the S2 // Diagnostics tab.
Note: If there are time-phased dates on the control account and work packages as well as a TimePhasedPeriods section, the dates from the TimePhasedPeriods section will be used in Acumen.
